pain and numbness

I've recently started experiencing pain on the top of my foot that's worse when I flex my foot as opposed to when I point it. It doesn't hurt when I'm sitting, only when I'm walking on it. I also sometimes have numbness in my 4th toe. Any idea what could be causing this?
