Re: subtalar joint structure

It is called the subtalar joint, this may help you find more information on it. The subtalar joint area behaves like a flexible structure. The foot stucture has 26 bones and, muscles, ligaments, and tendons holding it together. The bones of the foot are divided into 3 groups.
1) seven tarsal bones 2) five metatarsal bones and 3)fourteen phalange bones. The two largest and most important of the tarsal bones are the Talus and the Calcaneum, (or called the heel bone). The Achilles tendon is attached to the calcaneum and the talus rests on top of the calcaneum, the joint between them is known as the Subtalar joint.
